Region
Flüeli-Ranft stands for peace, relaxation and new experiences. Here you can make the journey back to yourself. This place of power, with its breath-taking view of the Obwalden mountain landscape and Lake Sarnen, lies directly on the Way of St. James and was the birthplace and home of “Brother Klaus”, better known as St. Niklaus von Flüe (1417-1487).
Ranft
From the village of Flüeli the route leads down into the Ranft gorge. There, in the Upper Ranft Chapel with the hermit cell of Brother Klaus, or in the Lower Ranft Chapel by the gushing Melchaa stream, countless people have found a place to breathe new life into their mind and body over five centuries.
Way of St. James
Lying directly on the centuries-old Way of St. James, magnificent long or short walks (Visionenweg, Bruder-Klausen Weg) lead through lush meadows or green forests to the “Hohe Brücke”, or High Bridge, Europe’s highest wooden bridge perched 100 metres above the River Melchaa.
